Leaving WordPress hosting

Keep the site. Drop the upkeep.

If your WordPress site is mostly pages, a blog and a contact form, you can stop paying for hosting and stop updating plugins. I rebuild it in clean code in accounts you own, and hosting costs $0 a year.

Why move a WordPress site

WordPress.com plans cost $48 to $300 a year, and other hosts charge their own fees. Themes and plugins need updates, and an out-of-date plugin is the usual way a small WordPress site gets broken into.

A rebuilt site has no plugins and no database to update: just your pages, in clean code. Across the 44 small business home pages we've scanned, a WordPress home page carries 61 KB of code (the middle value).

Is your site a fit?

Pages, a blog with posts, a contact form and a small shop all move. Member logins, online courses and big online stores don't: I'll tell you plainly if yours is one.

What stays the same

  • Your words and photos, page by page.
  • Your page addresses. One that has to change forwards to its new address, so links and Google still find it.
  • Your page titles and descriptions for Google.
  • Your domain and your email. Every setting is copied and checked before anything switches, and your old site stays up until then.

What changes

  • It's yours: the code is in your own GitHub account and it runs on your own Cloudflare account. Nothing of mine is needed once it's live.
  • You change it yourself: click a heading or a photo on your page and change it, from a computer or a phone.
  • $0 a year for hosting.

What it costs

  • Staying on WordPress.com: $48 to $300 a year for the plan (Personal to Business), every year. Over five years, $240 to $1,500.
  • Moving with me: from $349 once, or from $25 a month for 16 months. Then $0 a year for hosting, on Cloudflare's free plan.
  • Either way: your domain renews as it does today (usually about $20 a year).

WordPress.com plan prices from its own pricing page, paid yearly, checked October 15, 2026.

Questions people ask

Will I lose my place on Google?

Your words, page addresses, page titles and descriptions stay the same, and a page whose address changes forwards to the new one. Faster pages and fixed search details tend to help, not hurt.

Do I have to move my domain?

Your domain stays yours, registered where it is now. It's pointed to your own Cloudflare account, after every setting it has is copied and checked.

Will my email or website stop working during the switch?

We copy every setting your domain has, email included, and check them before anything switches. Your current site stays up until the new one is checked, and your email provider doesn't change.

When do I cancel my hosting?

Not yet. After launch we check your new site every day for two weeks, then tell you when it's safe to cancel your old plan.

I'm not technical. Can I do this?

Yes. You follow a short checklist with pictures: make two free accounts and click to connect them. We do the rest. After launch you change things in your own editor: click a heading or a photo on your page and change it.
