What we found on real small business websites
We've scanned 44 small business home pages so far (October 2026), reading each one the way a search engine does:
- 21 of 44 have no description for Google, so Google writes its own.
- 10 of 44 have no main heading.
- 23% of their pictures have no description for screen readers or search.
- 167 KB of code on a typical home page (the middle value), before any photo loads.
